Rowbust has always had DREAMS.
Then we met 2 amazing people who became our Coaches and who helped us BELIEVE and DREAM of things that we never thought possible. Now many years later the building blocks have been put into place to present Rowbust Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Racing Team to the WORLD!
As 5 time Canadian National Champions (2010 - 2014), Rowbust is ready for this next challenge.
Cheryl McLachlan and Sarah Shellard have mentored and coached this group of women who have all survived breast cancer into athletes. We have become healthier both mentally and physically than we ever thought possible considering where our health started. This has not been easy although it has been FUN! But anything worth working this hard for should not be easy!
We have trusted our coaches plan, we have committed to the plan, we have pushed ourselves and each other just as "sisters" should. We have trained as a team for 4 hours (or more) per week for months, not to mention the extra time we've put in individually. We'd had training camps, fitdex's, weight training, cardio, pool paddling, on water training. We are SO READY for the Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna, Italy...we just FEEL it!
But, before we head to Ravenna, Italy and Worlds, we are flying to London, England to paddle with another cancer team who's dream is to start a breast cancer survivor dragon boat team.
Rowbust is 15 years old now and we have learned many things over the years but above all, we have learn how to be a successful club. This is Rowbust's way to "Pay it Forward" to another team and to another country! This is our "London to London" adventure!
With 50 people flying to London, England (crew, coaches and supporters) and then 55 people in Ravenna, Italy with us, we will feel the "love" of our support system around us and we would love to have you join us and read all about our adventures.
Who would have thought that a bunch of mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers from London and surrounding area who have been all brought together by breast cancer would be representing London, representing Ontario and representing Canada on the World Stage!
All you have to do is DREAM and BELIEVE!
