We had another beautiful day for our last day of racing in Sarosota.
Rowbust and Dragon Spirit had two races each and we were all very happy with our final races of the day. Rowbust ended up in the A division consolation and Dragon Spirit in the C division finals.
The races were quite close and none of us have any idea where we actually finished! It doesn't matter though because at the end of the day everyone got a participatory medal. They did announce the team with the fastest time though and that was Hamilton's Knot a Breast.
At the end of the day there was the Sandy Smith global race which included 2 members from each team. There were 11 boats in the race and Shirley sterned one of the boats. It was quite emotional to watch all those boats with survivors from every team and every country padding together. At the finish line they all lined up together for the flower ceremony and dove release. There weren't many dry eyes by the end. After the closing ceremonies Sandy Smiths daughter talked about her mothers contribution to BCS teams across the world,
When it was all done walked back to the hotel and gathered in a corner of the lobby for some good old fashioned Rowbust style partying. We ate pizza and snacks, played charades and got quite silly. It was a good thing the hotel was filled with Dragonboat teams all doing the same thing!
We are all looking forward to the next one in four years!
